She Used Our Towels After a Disgusting Mess in the Bathroom…

There was a time when someone stayed over at our home. She would leave the bathroom in an awful, unhygienic state — and after showering, she’d casually use our family’s towels without asking. My mother was furious, and rightly so. It made me realize how important it is, especially for households with daughters, to be cautious. You can’t always know how clean or considerate someone is. Infections like yeast or urinary tract issues can be easily passed on through shared spaces — more easily than we often imagine. But what I really want to talk about goes far beyond hygiene. We once had a male relative — someone close to my father — stay at our house. At the time, I was only eight years old. He tried to touch me inappropriately, twice. Back then, I was too young to fully understand what was happening, but as I grew up, I came to realize the truth. Now, just the memory of him makes my skin crawl. I can’t stand the sight of that man. This is why I believe: No matter how "close" someone is to your family, always protect your children — especially your daughters. Don't assume trust. Set boundaries. Teach your kids they can talk to you about anything. It could make all the difference.
